Or, that time in the Odinic Mythology when Thor and Loki were forced to cross-dress. An excerpt from the Elder Eddas by Saemund Sigfusson, translated by Benjamin Thorpe. In this particular excerpt, Miollnir has been stolen and Thor wants it back.. and is forced to go to some extreme measures. Some quick notes: Freyia was known for her necklace, which is why Thor needed it. (She’s also kind of cool.) Also, Thor was married to Sif in the mythology.. and apparently he was redhaired and had fire burning in his eyes, hence the comment about the eyes.
It’s fun reading because I keep visualizing Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston in a dress. Oh dear.
British actress Gemma Arterton has revealed which job she liked the most and which job she liked the least before she made it big as an actress. Gemma also admitted that, while she was grateful for the role, she hates being referred to as ‘that girl from James Bond’.
Arterton explained, “I worked in a clothes shop in central London where women would flash their money at me and I’d have to dress them. I had to wear heels and wasn’t allowed to sit down all day. I worked in a pub in the evening, which was much more fun. If I were out of work I’d definitely work in a pub again, at least you can have a laugh.”
She added that she hates people “thinking of me as just ‘that girl from Bond’.” Gemma Arterton is set to appear on the big screen, alongside Jeremy Renner and Famke Janssen in the movie Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, which will be released on March 2, 2012.
I have started reading translations of the first fragments we have of the Germanic Mythology (the Eddas by Saemund Sigfusson and Snorri Sturluson) and I just ordered Thor’s Hammer earrings. I read this most amazing story about Thor’s hammer (Mjöllnir!) being stolen by a giant and Thor and Loki being forced to dress up as a bride and maid to get it back. I laughed so much it nearly hurt. I haven’t enjoyed myself this much in ages. I’m also very much trying to see if I can make it work to minor in Medieval Latin (I might not be able to =’( ) because as much as I love German, I really need some form of Latin in my life.
In conclusion.. Solyn you’re a nerd. On that note I’m off to see if I’ll like Quantum Of Solace.. which is one of the few Gemma things I haven’t seen yet. (But the other two don’t really count because she’s only doing the voices in Sammy’s Adventures and the Perfect short is more elusive than the Phantom Of The Opera and will probably only be found when the director wants it to be. Solyn is sad.)
