Hello everyone!

This Monday I’m departing for a 3-week trip around Japan and South Korea (though mostly South Korea). If you’re interested in my adventures or just the pictures I’ll be posting, feel free to keep an eye on my new Tumblr blog, that I’ve created especially for this trip. If all works out as I hope I’ll be posting updates and photos while traveling.

This is the link: http://foxmeetsgumiho.tumblr.com/

So if you’re interested, feel free to check that site starting next week. ♥

My journey is starting TODAY! So if you’re interested, check that blog.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT I WON’T BE CHECKING THIS TUMBLR UNTIL I GET BACK MOST LIKELY, WHICH IS OCTOBER 28TH.

Stay safe everyone and see you soon!

asker So people have been using the fact that since there's so many instances of members leaving from each SM group that there is something wrong with SM. I wonder about this too, is there something wrong like they're too restricting or is it just because they're such a big company with so many artists and the idols have so much money and success that they think they can leave and do whatever they want?

Ok, since your profile states “I do claim, however, to use a sound scientific and logical approach in most of what I do,” I thought you might appreciate me correcting a few… all… of the things you said wrong about JYJ.

In essence, SM built these kids from the ground up to create superstar multitainers.

It is true that SM is really good at training multitalented stars. Their formula is obviously successful, no one can deny that.

But SM didn’t really build them from ground up. That would actually have to mean they made an investment in their stars and risked their money. That never happened.

Junsu trained for 6 years, during which time he lived at home and was fed by his parents (together with Yunho for some of that time), Jajeoong trained for two year, and Yoochun only trained for six months.

SM and TVXQ split the earnings, BUT trainers, stylists, coordinators, the whole little army of people working on TVXQ as well as all the other expenses were finances FROM TVXQ’s HALF. So SM didn’t invest anything in TVXQ, it was pure profit.

But don’t take it from me, take it from Korean high court:

- Quoted from High Court’s decision:
“An investor must take his/her risk of investment him/herself and SM abused its position by making excessive compensation for damages in order to re-collect the invested money used for one singer from another successful singer.”

The problem with that is that once you make these kids that talented, they start getting approached by all sorts of different people who talk sweet things into their ears, or they get greedy about other things that they could be doing.

Also not true. Not only were JYJ NOT approached by people who “talked sweet things into their ear” they were actually passed around like a hot potato no one wanted to have anything to do with.

The offers they did get were slave contracts again, which JYJ had no intention of accepting.

They met their current CEO of CJeS AFTER they have already filed the lawsuit. And even so, it took him 6 months to finally convince Yoochun that he can trust him.

Obviously, they hadn’t banked on a lawsuit being enough to make the whole K-Pop industry turn against them.

As soon as they filed the lawsuit JYJ stated that they are fully aware it might be the end of their career. They said they purposfully waited to be at the peak of their fame when they file the lawsuit, so no one could claim they were running away from SM once their fame started to decline.

Yoochun and Jaejoong even said they would rather be farmers but be free, if the whole Korea rejects them.

They went into acting in dramas, movies and musicals precisely because they knew full well the music industry was blocked for them.

oniontaker:

In the case of Hangeng, that was misuse of talent.

In all other cases, I see it in a completely different way. All those kids that broke away from SM or are no longer in SM groups have gone through rigorous SM Academy training: JYJ for so many years, Jessica for seven years, Kris for five years.

In essence, SM built these kids from the ground up to create superstar multitainers. The problem with that is that once you make these kids that talented, they start getting approached by all sorts of different people who talk sweet things into their ears, or they get greedy about other things that they could be doing.

In the case of JYJ, the offer of possibly more money and creative freedom was amazing for them since DBSK did admittedly go through some awful times to get to where they were at the top of the industry in 2008/2009. Obviously, they hadn’t banked on a lawsuit being enough to make the whole K-Pop industry turn against them.

SM clearly had plans that follow a broad but strict schedule that has proven to work. Make the group brand name popular and push individual members afterwards to cash in on the brand name. Kris couldn’t wait. Again, being fresh out of the Academy, he was an easy target for someone to come along and try to poach him… or for his mum to go around looking for headhunters.

If anything, it’s evidence to suggest that SM makes talented stars a little too arrogant and impatient, and that their Academy system and branding/marketing post-debut is that good, that there are outside forces willing and able to try to snipe SM talent.

If anything, it’s evidence to suggest that SM makes talented stars a little too arrogant and impatient,

Impatient… JYJ worked for SM for more than 6 years, which now that Korean courts forced SM to make their contracts more human is almost the full length of any contract signed today.

Arrogant would mean they hold beliefs or make excessive claims about themselves which magnify their worth or importance to an undeserved degree.

Let’s see… You said yourself K-pop industry has turned against them, so we agree they had it harder than majority of others in the industry. Yet they had continued to be top K-pop group both in Korea and overseas, rising to the top of the charts in many Asian countries with every solo or group album they published.

Junsu has gotten numerous awards as a musical actor and is hailed by the experts as one of the best singers in Korea (not just in K-pop).

Jaejoong and Yoochun have gotten the best actor award in all of the dramas they starred as the main actor. Sea Fog, Yoochun’s current film was the top film of TIFF and has sold in Japan for twice the price of other similar Korean films. I could go on and on but this post is really long already.

But they have never boasted about any of that.

I think the word you were looking for is modest.

Can I hug you??

galadrielles:

and there sat a lady fair to look upon, and so like was she in form of womanhood to Elrond that Frodo guessed that she was one of his close kindred Young she was and yet not so. The braids of her dark hair were touched by no frost; her white arms and clear face were flawless and smooth, and the light of stars was in her bright eyes, grey as a cloudless night; yet queenly she looked, and thought and knowledge were in her glance, as of one who has known many things that the years bring.
